Help wanted please. I am not a BOFIC collector but do have a small collection of GB ovpt Postage Dues on cover. I am writing up a few album pages and need a little more info on a Philatelic Cover I purchased recently.
It is an orange semi official "Municipio di Garian/ PROVINCIA DI TRIPOLI" printed envelope, upon which is a short set of SGM11 to M19 (2/6) and MD1 to MD5. The stamps are tied by the large unhatched Bridge type cds GARIAN/ 8.9.43/ TRIPOLI.
Please can anyone comment on the following:-
1) The date seems to be the same as the Italians signed the Armistice, but is there anything else of significance,
2) When did the MEF stamps first go on sale at Garian.
3) What are the EKD & LKD for this cds?
4) Is it known if at this date (8/9/43) the PO had the 5/- & 10/- values available for sale.
Any info greatfully received. I haven't been a GBOS member long so do not have a large referrence collection of back issues of the Overprinter and although I have a copy of SIROTTI I don't understand enough Italian to extract as much information as I might want.
