We have begun work on the third and last in the series of books on the Morocco Agencies.
This volume will cover the stamps and postal stationery of both the Gibraltar and British Periods.
The target date for publication is the next Morocco Day on 19 March 2011.
I will be Editor of the book which will consist of a series of chapters, around 17 at present, each authored by specialists in the period.
More details in the forthcoming Overprinter.

Following discussions with John Gledhill and Geoff Chivers we have a new set of chapter headings for the stamps as follows:
Section I: Stamps
1. Introduction
2. Unoverprinted Gibraltar QV Stamps Used in Morocco: Richard Garcia
3. QV Gibraltar Stamps Overprinted for Morocco: Richard Garcia & Ron Peters
4. KE VII Gibraltar Stamps Overprinted for Morocco: Richard Garcia & David Milsted
5. KE VII British Stamps, Sterling Issues Overprinted for Morocco: Murray Gellatly, Andy Hawthorn & Marius Wlodarczyk
6. KE VII British Stamps, Centimos Surcharges, Overprinted for Morocco: Murray Gellatly, Andy Hawthorn & Marius Wlodarczyk
7. KG V Stamps, Downey Heads, Overprinted for Morocco: Geoff Chivers
8. KG V Stamps, Royal Cypher, Overprinted for Morocco: John Gledhill & John Smith
9. KG V Stamps, Block Cypher, Overprinted for Morocco: John Gledhill & John Smith
10. Seahorses Overprinted for Morocco: Brian Kearsley & Murray Gellatly
11. KG V Stamps, Photogravure, Overprinted for Morocco: David Stotter
12. The Silver Jubilee Issue: Geoff Chivers
13. KE VIII Stamps Overprinted for Morocco: Francis Kiddle & Tony Stanford
14. Unoverprinted British Stamps Used in Morocco: David Stotter
15. KG VI Commemoratives Overprinted for Morocco: Francis Kiddle
16. KG VI Definitives Overprinted for Morocco: Barrie Cook
17. QE II Definitives & Commemoratives Overprinted for Morocco: Mike Osborne
18 QE II Castles Overprinted for Morocco: Geoff Chivers
Section II: Postal Stationery
As you see, (i) we have split out postal stationery to a separate section now, and (ii) the most challenging area for the stamps, KG V, is now split by type rather than by overprint/surcharge to avoid duplication.
Any comments, let me know.

For the postal stationery we split by reign as follows:
1. Unoverprinted Gibraltar QV
2. Overprinted Gibraltar QV & KE VII
3. GB Overprints KE VII
4. GB Overprints KG V
5. GB Unoverprinted KG V and KG VI
6. GB Overprints KG VI
7. GB Overprints QE II
Same authors, probably, as the corresponding stamps sections.
Alan Huggins will oversee everybody's contributions.

David
What about unoverprinted Q.V GB stationery used in MA? I would also like to see at least listed a note of any Reply Stationery cards known used from the MA, GB or any other Country.
Also should/could there be a section on the different types & styles of registration labels, Found Open & Resealed labels, Parcel Post Labels, Customs Labels, and various other PO Issues etc etc.
Also as stamps are being covered could/should there be a section on Cinderella items or perhaps better titled non stamp postal labels and letter Seals on MA mail. I'm thinking of the many diff AIR MAIL labels and other such as the DISABLED/ 1914-15/ SERVICE 1/2d WAR SEAL seen used in Tangier 1916. Also Consular seals etc. With added interest in fiscals maybe also include consular stamps used in MA.
Lastly will Reply paid coupons and Postal Orders be included in the various stationery categories?
I know there are a number of potential additional headings here but as this is likely to be not only the 3rd but last in the series as much should be covered as possible.
Just my tuppence worth!
Simon

Hi Simon
Q. What about unoverprinted Q.V GB stationery used in MA? I would also like to see at least listed a note of any Reply Stationery cards known used from the MA, GB or any other Country.
A. Yes, there will be a chapter in the PS section on use of unoverprinted KG V and KG VI PS in Morocco.
Q. Also should/could there be a section on the different types & styles of registration labels, Found Open & Resealed labels, Parcel Post Labels, Customs Labels, and various other PO Issues etc etc.
A. Probably not in this book. There is a great deal to cover anyway. This is a good topic for a Study Paper though. Ivan and I have discussed an Overprinter article on the registration labels, updating and extending work done years ago. Leave it with me.
A. As above, I think. But Tony may want to include something on consular stamps etc.
Q. Lastly will Reply paid coupons and Postal Orders be included in the various stationery categories?
A. No, not in this book. There is talk of a book covering postal orders for all the British colonies and reply paid coupons could go into that.
Q. I know there are a number of potential additional headings here but as this is likely to be not only the 3rd but last in the series as much should be covered as possible.
A. Some of this will be covered in the second edition of my book, currently scheduled for 2017! If enough new material and archive sources turn up we might bring that forward to 2013 or so. We plan a third Morocco day in Paris in 2013, but looking so far ahead is tempting fate!
Always good to hear from you, Simon. I wish everyone had so many good ideas to share!

Thanks David
Going back to the first point
Queen Victoria Postal Stationery of the UNoverprinted GB kind was what I was referring to. I know the 1.1/4d 1st Foreign Postcard was used in Tangier though postmarked Gib. Presumably there are other QV GB stationery items.
I know space is likely to be limited but I do think that ref books which include some of the "Back of the Book Stuff" are more interesting. So I would still suggest a Morocco Agencies Post Office Stationery and Labels section.
The next edition of your original book will no doubt include expanded Censorship section and hopefully sections on the "semi-official" topics of the Hotel cachets and Hotel Stationery, plus perhaps the PO Labels etc if they dont make it into Vol 3.
Also are there many MA PO Notices recorded? These always make for fascinating reading and are often the source of new information or comfirmation/ proof of dates and rates.

Sorry Simon, Yes, QV GB PS used in Tangier will be included.
I think it is now unlikely that items other than stamps and PS will be included because there is interest in plate flaws and so on in the underlying stamps that needs to be considered, and this will take up a lot of space. Too much in my view but this is a GBOS publication.
